Team Building

On November 2, 2003, Ice Symphony, Ice Rhapsody, the Calalta Synchro Executive, and the Calalta Synchro Coaches had
the privilege to take part in a Team Building Experience at the beautiful Rocky Mountain YMCA. The participants geared up
in their warm wear and prepared to brave the elements--and less than optimal driving conditions--and whatever the
facilitators at the camp were prepared to challenge them with.
The morning began with some introductions and goal setting, led by head facilitator Barry Dawson. The purpose behind this
experience was to find effective team building strategies that would not only strengthen each team, but also the Calalta
Synchro Club as a whole. After some open discussion and brainstorming about what makes a great team and how to become one,
everyone was divided into three groups, each led by a facilitator.
The facilitators were great; their energy was contagious and electric!
For the rest of the morning, the groups participated in a combination of trust exercises, role-playing, and challenge
courses. At lunch break, each group debriefed the others about their morning and there was more open discussion.
The afternoon saw the three groups split up again to continue the exercises and challenges introduced that morning.
The experience was a fantastic one, and everyone involved was able to take back with them positive attitudes and a multitude
of great teamwork initiatives that will bring a fresh dimension to the Calalta Synchro Club. We would like to extend our
sincere thanks and appreciation to Barry Dawson and Dynamic Appproach for giving us this exciting opportunity.
