2009 Wrap-Up: Medals and Nationals!
Ice Symphony had another successful competitive season this year, boasting a silver medal from Rose Bowl, bronze at Western Regionals,
and a 13th place finish at their first Nationals since 2005. Coached by Kim Boorman and skating to choreography by Gold Ice's Saara
Pulkkinen, the "Bond Girls" made excellent technical strides under the CPC judging system. Congratulations on your accomplishments!
2009 Rose Bowl: January 11
The Official Rose Bowl Announcement and volunteer information are now available on the Rose Bowl page.
Deadline for entries is December 8, 2008.
2008-09 Season Underway
Ice Symphony Adult is now well into their season after kicking 2008-09 off in August
with an intense choreography weekend with Gold Ice's Saara Pulkkinen. The team's first competition will be the 26th Calalta Rose Bowl
in January, to be followed by Western Regionals a few weeks later, where the team hopes to earn a berth to Nationals in Oshawa at the end
of February.
We regret to report that Calalta will not be fielding a Junior team this season. A number of Mirage's skaters have moved on to
other locations and new adventures, while some former team members are still actively involved in synchro and singles. Best wishes
to all of you!
Auditions & Choreography
Our spring sessions have wrapped up and were a great success. Skaters improved their speed, posture, edge quality, strength, flexibility,
and turns with the help of
new assistant coach Tammy Wickwire, a former Disney performer, competitive Senior ice dancer, and Mirage team member.
We thank everyone who attended our spring sessions for your participation and enthusiasm, and hope
you'll join our teams for 2008-09! Audition details for both teams are as follows:

Calalta's teams gave strong performances at the Western Regional Championships in Camrose last

Silver & Bronze for Calalta at Rose Bowl
Congratulations to Calalta's teams, Mirage and Ice Symphony, who kicked off the competitive
season with a silver and bronze at Rose Bowl, respectively. Mirage's second place finish in the Junior event
was the best ever for the team at Rose Bowl, and Ice Symphony's third place ranking put them back in the
Adult mix after they finished off the podium in 2007.
